How I Cleared Up My Skin

March 1, 2017

Hi there! Today I wanted to share how I cleared up my skin because I've been so happy with how well it has been behaving lately and it all has stemmed from simple yet effective changes to my routine that are honestly pretty inexpensive and easy to do!

A little history of my skin:
I have combination skin but am a bit on the drier side of the spectrum. I used to get really annoying breakouts around my T zone and mostly on my forehead around the time of when I'd get my period. Eventually I got so fed up with it and started to try and narrow down if the breakouts were coming from something that I could change.
Somehow, I narrowed it down to my birth control and found this out because whenever I took my sugar pills and was not taking the actual pill, my skin would be clear and when I'd start a new pack I'd break out. I was on Junel Fe 1.5/30 birth control and had been on it for over 2 years but noticed that it was making me break out a lot more often than it ever had. So I talked to my gyno and told her that I thought my BC was making me break out (and told her that my hair would fall out in the shower as well which was also super annoying) and she instantly suggested Loryna because it has ingredients in the pill to specifically clear up acne. I was like SIGN ME UP!!!
And I'm not even kidding, maybe after two weeks of using it (the first week made me break out and that's solely because my skin was getting used to the new hormones being introduced to my body) but after two weeks my skin was doing 90% better. I wasn't getting breakouts anymore! So if you're on birth control and you get breakouts I'd suggest talking to your doctor about the possibility of switching! I think I'm going to do a review of the birth control I'm on because I love it so much and wish I'd switched sooner.

How I cleared my skin:
Cleanser:  I use the Clinique Acne Solutions gel cleanser. This stuff is honestly amazing and works for my dry/oily combo skin. It's really affordable and does just the trick- it leaves my skin feeling clean and refreshed.

Moisturizer: I use the Simple Replenishing moisturizer and it's perfect. It's so lightweight but also super hydrating and makes my skin feel baby soft. I also have been using the Bare Minerals Butter Drench moisturizer and did a review on it here; but overall it's great in the winter months when my skin is really dry!
Micellar Water: This is what I use to take my makeup off. It does an amazing job at getting off all kinds of makeup and I love it. It's lasted me a really long time too!

Jojoba Oil & Rosehip Oil: I use these two oils and add about two drops of each to whatever moisturizer I use at night and these have seriously improved the overall complexion and texture of my skin! I wake up with a glow every morning and it's the best feeling ever.

Fish Oil: I started taking these Fish Oil pills about a month ago and I SWEAR by them. The Omega 3 fatty acids in fish oil does wonders for your skin because it reduces inflammation. Omega 3 is basically the kind of fat that your skin and body needs- and there are also SO many other benefits that come along with taking them. I take one in the morning with food.
Biotin: For my biotin supplement, I've been taking Hair, Skin & Nail Gummies by Natures Bounty as well. I take two in the morning with food as well. These have 2500 mcg of biotin per serving.
Green Tea: I've been drinking green tea close to every single morning and I believe this has been helping the look of my skin as well! Green tea contains bioactive compounds that improve health. They help protect against free radicals and help strengthen your skin cells from damage.

I hope this post helped you to find some great products!
Have a great day :)
